Digital Marketing in Healthcare

The healthcare industry has always been one of the most influential industries in the world. For centuries, the healthcare community has facilitated some of the most revolutionary technological advancements. From the development of life-saving medications and procedures to the proliferation of on-demand medical devices, it’s no secret that technology and medicine go hand-in-hand. Here we are in 2016: technology is rapidly evolving in all sectors and the healthcare space finds itself in a paradox, both advanced and far behind at the same time. With all of its rapidly advancing medical technologies, the medical community has been astonishingly delayed in adapting to digital, consumer-facing technologies, evident in the ongoing marketing efforts of many healthcare organizations.

Pyxl has made it our mission throughout the past few years to attempt to push healthcare digital marketing forward. In our efforts, we’ve become very familiar with this phenomenon, recognizing the massive opportunity that the healthcare industry has to meet its consumers on their level, instead of the other way around.

To really understand the entire scope of the situation, Pyxl organized a healthcare board, bringing together some of the most knowledgeable and influential names in the industry to advise, instruct and guide us in refining our understanding of the healthcare industry to fully realize how digital can revolutionize the patient experience. The outcome was nothing short of incredible – their deep healthcare knowledge and experience paired with our expertise in digital marketing has created a very powerful partnership, shaping custom approaches to healthcare marketing for a variety of organizations.

After establishing the board, we realized that we needed to create a platform to allow this synergy to take place. We decided that this story needed to be told outside the context of traditional content marketing channels – we needed to do it in a way that hadn’t been done within the healthcare or inbound marketing space. So, we decided to create a short documentary piece to combine our ability as storytellers with our healthcare board’s unbelievable understanding of the industry. After extensive planning, writing and cross country travel, we boarded our flight home with 40+ hours of interview footage.

Piecing the content together, our aim was to:

  • Inform those who are not in the healthcare space
  • Tell the “digital in healthcare” story in a way that hadn’t been done before
  • Call those within the healthcare industry to take action

We are very excited about the final product and hope that it showcases storytelling around a very real situation. Enjoy!
